SHROPSHIRE & THE SEVERN VALLEY
Join us for our 5 day tour visiting many places of interest in this pleasant tranquil county. We include a guided walking tour of Shrewsbury, a boat cruise on the River Severn, a train ride on the Severn Valley Railway and entrance to Blists Hill Victorian Town.
SUNDAY DAY 1
We meet the tour coach after our door to door service and continue to Shropshire where we arrive at our hotel late afternoon. We will make a convenient stop with a chance to purchase lunch.
DMONDAY DAY 2
After a full English breakfast, we depart for the short journey into Shrewsbury. We have included a guide for a walking tour of this ancient town with higgledy-piggledy streets with names you want to say out loud. There will be free time for lunch before we meet at Victoria Quay for our cruise aboard Sabrina. We return to the hotel in the late
afternoon for dinner and overnight.
TUESDAY DAY 3
After a full English breakfast, we travel to the beautiful market town of Ironbridge, spanning the banks of the River Severn. Here you will see the world's first iron bridge
constructed here and now internationally recognised as the symbol of the Industrial Revolution. We continue to Blists Hill Victorian Town for an included visit. Step
back more than a hundred years and chat to the townsfolk about their lives, explore their homes, workplaces and shops and see them at work in the bakers, candle factory
and blacksmiths. Enjoy a pint of ale in the New Inn pub, a delicious portion of traditionally made fish & chips or a bag of old-fashioned sweets. We return to the hotel for dinner.
WEDNESDAY DAY 4
Today we depart for Kidderminster for our journey on the Severn Valley Railway to Bridgenorth. Travel back in time on a vintage steamhauled train as it meanders its way
through the town of Bewdley, Arley, Highley (you could stop here for a visit to The Engine House or Visitor Centre), and Hampton Loade. The line then climbs its way to the summit before dropping to Bridgnorth, Shropshire's gem of a medieval market town, with the steepest funicular railway in England. Free time here before we return to the hotel for dinner.
THURSDAY DAY 5
We say goodbye to Shropshire after breakfast and travel towards home to meet our door to door service late afternoon. A suitable stop will be made to purchase lunch during the journey.
