SAILING & STEAMING IN DEVON
Join us for our South Devon Coast Tour where we enjoy a relaxed itinerary visiting Exmouth and Newton Abbot. We also enjoy a train ride on the South Devon Railway as well as a River Exe Cruise and free time in our resort of Torquay. We are based at the Headland Hotel in an elevated position close to Torquay centre.
MONDAY DAY 1
We depart from your home area in the morning via our door to door service travelling to Devon and arriving late afternoon at Headland Hotel, Torquay. Tea/coffee served on arrival.
DTUESDAY DAY 2
Following the shore road, we pass through Teignmouth and Dawlish and continue north along the Exe estuary to the pleasant resort of Exmouth. Here we have time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon cruise along the River Exe discovering the history, beauty and wildlife of the river.
B, DWEDNESDAY DAY 3
This morning we drive into Newton Abbot where today is market day. Enjoy a browse around the stalls and a look at the town where you can purchase lunch. Leaving Newton Abbot we travel to Buckfastleigh. Here we join the South Devon Railway. Originally a Great Western Railway branch line, the line hugs the Dart estuary on the journey to Totnes. On arrival you can stretch your legs before the train returns to Buckfastleigh. In Buckfastleigh the railway offers an extensive museum, workshops, gift and book shop and refreshment rooms.
THURSDAY DAY 4
A free day to explore the harbour, enjoy a stroll along the promenade or shopping in the town centre. Or perhaps relax in and around the hotel and watch the world go by.
PLEASE NOTE IF WALKING TO THE TOWN. IT IS A TEN MINUTE WALK DOWN A FAIRLY STEEP HILL. TAXIS CAN BE BOOKED FROM RECEPTION (TAXI COST NOT INCLUDED)
FRIDAY DAY 5
Depart after breakfast and begin our homeward journey to meet our door to door service late afternoon.

The Headland Hotel ***
Majestically overlooking Meadfoot Beach and the sea, set on the headland, the Headland Hotel was originally built for the Romanoff’s, the Russian Royal Family. All bedrooms have TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift. Please note the town is a ten minute walk from the hotel.
