LOOE, CORNWALL
The seaside town of Looe in south east Cornwall is still very much a working fishing port. Many of the towns shops are located in buildings dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. included are visits to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mevagissey and Plymouth. We once again stay at the popular Portbyhan Hotel close to the heart of the town, overlooking the harbour.
SATURDAY DAY 1
After our door to door service we make our way to the south west and arrive in Looe late afternoon, with time to relax before dinner. A stop will be made with the chance to purchase lunch.
SUNDAY DAY 2
We enjoy a free day to explore Looe town. Over the years, the town has retained its small fishing fleet, which return at high tide, to off load their catch alongside the riverside quay at the busy fish market, which dominates the towns East Quay.
MONDAY DAY 3
Today we visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan. It was only the chance discovery of a door in the ruins that led to the restoration of this once great estate. After Heligan we enjoy a short break in Mevagissey with its narrow streets and terraced houses leading down to the centre of old Mevagissey where the distinctive twin harbour provides a safe haven for the many fishing boats that land their daily catch.
TUESDAY DAY 4
We enjoy an excursion to Plymouth, with its many well-known landmarks and historical sites. Wander the Barbarian's quaint cobbled quayside following the Mayfair Trail, head to the National Marine Aquarium on the edge of the harbour, or relax at one of the many coffee shops and watch the world go by.
B, DWEDNESDAY DAY 5
Today is our final free day to enjoy our time in Looe.
THURSDAY DAY 6
We leave Cornwall behind and travel north where we make a stop for lunch. We meet our door to door service early evening.
