Christmas at Blackwell Grange
A popular Christmas tour from our base on the outskirts of Darlington where we have two contrasting excursions – Durham, a delight to visit at this festive time, and also into North Yorkshire across the scenic Cleveland Hills. Festive entertainment is included at the hotel.
WEDNESDAY DAY 1
After our morning door to door service we head north, arriving late afternoon at The Blackwell Grange Hotel. Tea/Coffee on arrival.
DTHURSDAY DAY 2
This morning, we drive through Bilsdale - known as 'Little Switzerland' - heading to Helmsley, with its huge market square, where we take a break for lunch. Afterwards, we head to Thirsk, home of James Herriot. We have a short break here before returning to the hotel. Tonight, we enjoy some more inhouse entertainment. For those wishing to attend Midnight Mass details of local church services will be available at reception.
B, DFRIDAY DAY 3
Merry Christmas! Enjoy a relaxing morning, open your presents, or take a stroll to work up an appetite for Christmas Day Lunch. In the afternoon, listen to the King's speech with a slice of Christmas cake, and maybe watch a movie, before getting ready for tonight's Christmas Day Buffet. This is followed by a quiz and music from the hotels resident DJ
B, D, LSATURDAY DAY 4
This morning we travel to the ancient and historic city of Durham. The city is dominated by the magnificent cathedral and Norman castle nearby. We have a chance to explore the historic city where a visit to the cathedral is recommended! You can also stroll along wooded riverbanks offering a peaceful retreat below the peeling bells of the cathedral. On our return to the hotel, there is a final evening of entertainment after dinner.
B, DSUNDAY DAY 5
After breakfast we begin our journey home, meeting our door to door service late afternoon.

The Blackwell Grange Hotel is a stunning 17th century mansion, which enjoys an enviable setting in the beautiful County Durham countryside. The hotel is nestled in wooded parkland in Darlington.
