ABERDEENSHIRE DELIGHTS
This tour visits the 'Granite City' of Aberdeen with excursions to Haddo House & Gardens, Pitmedden Gardens, Museum of Farming Life, a ride on the Royal Deeside Railway and a visit to the Royal Lochnagar Distillery, the whisky supplied to royalty at Balmoral Castle.
SUNDAY DAY 1
After our door to door service we travel to southern Scotland for our overnight stay - dinner, bed and breakfast.
DMONDAY DAY 2
We depart our hotel continuing our journey north to Aberdeen.
B, DTUESDAY DAY 3
After breakfast we travel north to Pitmedden Garden & Museum of Farming Life. This 17th century walled garden contains over 30,000 bedding plants, 6 miles of clipped box hedging and over 200 fruit trees. The adjacent museum brings to life the agricultural heritage of the local area, where you can admire an extensive range of agricultural artefacts. Later we visit Haddo House and Gardens, stroll through the terrace garden with flower beds, lovely borders and fountain.
B, DWEDNESDAY DAY 4
Today is free to explore Aberdeen at leisure - the Duthie Park Gardens are well worth a visit - admission is free. Aberdeen also has a great maritime history.
B, DTHURSDAY DAY 5
This morning we travel into the Cairngorms National Park to the Royal Lochnagar Distillery. Located just one mile away from the famous summer retreat of the royal family, Balmoral Castle, this distillery is proud to have been supplying royalty since 1848. We enjoy a guided tour of the distillery followed by a tasting. Afterwards we travel to Banchory for free time, before joining the Royal Deeside Railway. A heritage railway in a beautiful setting running along the River Dee.
B, DFRIDAY DAY 6
After breakfast we journey south to the Holiday Inn Dumfries for our overnight.
B, DSATURDAY DAY 7
We leave our final hotel after breakfast, and meet our door to door service late afternoon.
